TC Coach

Qualifications

  • Preferably experienced with youths

  • over 21 years old

  • Have recommendation by pastors or church leaders

  • Must go through police reference check* (AFC will pay for this. More information on this will be provided later)

  • First time coaches are to attend the training on: Feb, 12th (Sat), 2005

Role & Responsibility

1.  You will spend two intense days with hyperactive teens, get to know each member of your team, assess and minister to their needs and concerns.  

2.   You will work with two team captains to lead a team of about 24 students.  There will be 3 interactions each day, a total of 6 for both days. Two of which are Bible studies and you need to lead one of them. 

3.   You may need to help debrief students on their experience after the message; further instructions will be provided.

*NEW: POLICE REFERENCE CHECKS.  We want to have each coach to get a police check because: it gives parents the assurance of the safety for their children; it is a form of protection for both TC attendees and the coaches; and it increases the security of the event. 

Procedures for Application

  1. Fill out the coach sign-up form
  2. Get your pastor or church leader to fill the pastoral reference form**

  3. Do the “police reference check”.  Please take note of the following:

§              Toronto region – please download the form here, and mail it along with the “coach recruitment form” AND “pastoral reference form”.

§              York region – please download the form from here, and mail it along with the “coach recruitment form” AND “pastoral reference form”.

§              Peel region – please call Paula at 416-494-7171x16 OR email at pchan@afc-ca.org to get the police check form, submit the “coach recruitment form” AND “pastoral reference form” first.

  • We will either come by your church or mail the form to you.

  • Please sign the form (*Note: write down "Youth Worker" as the nature of your position).

  • Take this signed form to the Mississauga Police Headquarters (7750 Hurontario St.).  Make sure you bring 2 pieces of ID with you.

§              Other regions (including Durham ) – please go DIRECTLY to the nearest police station and get the police check from there.  Please keep your receipt, you will be reimbursed by AFC later.  Attach this “police reference check” with the “coach recruitment form” AND “pastoral reference form”. 

 **Since this is our first year in implementing the police check system at AFC, we encourage you to get a
pastoral reference so that we would know your church is supporting you in serving at Teens Conference. This applies to ALL coaches, no matter whether you have helped out at TC for some time or if this is your very first time in helping at TC.  The pastoral reference and police check will be kept in our file.  Thanks so much for your support and taking the time to go through this police reference check process.

Statement of Faith
