Looking at Jesus
……through the eyes of Dr. Luke
-Paula Tom-
Have you ever gazed at
the stars through a microscope? My friend – David has. It
was so cool when he got us to stargaze with him one summer
evening. I must say that it was so amazing to take a
close look at the stars. God is so beautiful in creating
the stars in the sky.
In the next 24
devotions, we will be GAZING at the Person of Jesus
Christ, through the “microscopic” lens of Luke – which we
will call “Dr. Luke”. Like gazing at stars, we see it all
in the sky. We see it there in the sky, but we don’t take
a closer look until we look through a microscope. And in
the next several weeks, we will be looking closely at
Jesus when He was here on earth. Yes, that’s right, we
will be going through the whole book of Luke.
Dr. Luke, like many
doctors, was well educated, a critical thinker,
analytical, precise, careful, observant, and attentive to
details as you will read in his gospel book. Compared to
all the gospel books in the Bible, the book of Luke is….
ü
the
longest one and the most detailed one of all
ü
places special attention to the non-Jews, poor, outcasts,
and the rejected of society.
Dr. Luke presented Jesus
as the “Perfect Man”. Now isn’t that somewhat ironic?
How can a man be perfect? Well now, Dr. Luke shows Jesus
being fully man and fully God. Jesus is the One Who is
able to save all who place their trust in Him.
The Gospel of Luke is
all about looking at the Person of Jesus Christ. What
about you?
Who is Jesus to you?
How did He live His life
here on earth?
How does He want us to
follow in His footsteps?
How does He want us to
lead others to Himself?
Let’s begin this journey
of GAZING at our Lord Jesus Christ. |
